HOW TO PLAN YOUR DREAM WEDDING WHILE KEEPING YOUR SANITY PART II

This is the second installment of the first article that focused on selecting a venue. You can check that out if you haven’t read it already. So now you have your venue and your date is set. What next? There are a lot of things that go into planning a wedding and here are a few that we think are essential to making your day more memorable.

As you plan your wedding, there is a possibility that someone has already come with the “My niece sews really well. Can she do your dress?” or “Can I do your bridal makeup? I watched a YouTube video and…” We are just here to remind you to hold strong! Don’t feel the need to turn your wedding to a charity event. It’s your day and you deserve the best your money can buy. Now to the wedding essentials.

The Gown:

To some brides, the dress is everything. In fact, thelist.com says, “Many brides dream about the moment they find ‘the one,’ and we’re not talking about the groom. We mean that other ‘one.’ The dress!” But wedding dress shopping is not as glamorous as it might seem. Dresses and their processes differ depending on your where you choose to shop. For example, in high-end stores, there are a range of dress samples in different sizes to try on and a sales assistant with you, who would recommend dresses for you according to your body type. They ask questions in order to understand your style better. It is better to trust their opinion but you are allowed to voice out your thoughts.  It is important you call ahead of time to know if your size is available to try on if you are going to such a store.

Food & Drinks:

Even though some venues offer catering as a packaged deal, if yours doesn’t, getting a caterer for your wedding is fairly easy. You’ll find that there is a variety of catering services that offer an assortment of meal plans. You just have to narrow it down to your budget, the kind of food you want and the number of guests. Note, don’t even think about calling a catering service till you know your budget and the number of people you’re planning for. Also pick your serving style, as meal prices differ according to how it is served. For food lovers like me, the best part of picking a caterer is tasting the food. It is important to know what is going to be served to your guests. And before you make your final decision ask for at least three references. This way you can know how your prospective caterer works from past customers. You don’t want any surprises.

In the final part of things you need to do to plan your wedding while keeping your sanity, we’ll look at hair & make-up, décor, and entertainment.
